Egg–cellent weather, great company, and egg battles!
It was the perfect kind of Sunday at The Landings Yacht and Golf Club in Fort Myers —cool, breezy, and with views so pretty they could make your grilled sausage smile. 45 of our members made their way to this waterfront paradise, where boats floated by and grills were fired up by Urs and Tom.
We kicked things off with an apéro sponsored by the club —because nothing says “Easter spirit” like a glass of wine in your hand, surrounded by good friends!
Our newly elected president, Vicki, gave a warm welcome, introduced the board members, and thanked Walter and Ursula for scoring us this beautiful spot. She also gave a big shoutout to the home bakers, who made sure our dessert table this time looked more like a pastry competition.
Vicki proceeded to introduced Chris Stern, who is running for the Auslandschweizer board. He said a few words, joked a bit, and probably earned a few votes.
Just in time, the grills were hot, picnic baskets were cracked open, and it was BYO–everything —from Fleischkäse to steak to Bratwurst. The vibes were high, stomachs were happy, and laughter echoed across the lawn.
And then… it was time for the legendary Eiertütsch! One table after another, eggs met their fate in friendly duels. Only the strongest shells survived. In the end, Becky crushed the competition and was the Eiertütsch Queen 2025, winning the first pick from Urs’ famous specialty cheese spreads. Follow–up champions Vreni, Burkhard, and Amparo also got their choice of dip. Well played, warriors of the yolk.
All in all, it was a cracking goodtime and everyone went home full, happy, and maybe just a little more egg–static about the holiday.
