The board members of the Swiss American Club of SWFL were happy to hand over a $500 check to Fernando, who tirelessly runs the St. Martin de Porres Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry in Fort Myers.

In June, during our Soup-er Social event, we came together as a community—sharing laughter, friendship, and even bidding on the leftover Bürli (our crusty Swiss rolls). From those small but heartfelt moments, this donation was born.

Too often, we forget that while many of us live in comfort, there are people right here in Fort Myers who go to bed hungry or struggle to meet basic needs. St. Martin de Porres serves meals Monday through Friday to anyone in need including families with children, spending about $4,000 every week just to keep up. The demand grows, yet support is shrinking.

This gift may not solve everything, but it is a reminder that together, we can make a difference. Thank you to everyone who joined us in June—your presence and generosity brought hope where it is needed most. Let’s do it again.
