The Swiss American Club closed out April with a delightful morning guided tour of Bonita Springs’ Wonder Garden. The Wonder Garden survives because of the public/private partnership between a nonprofit  foundation and  city of Bonita Springs. Even April heat can become very hot, so we opted to start at 11:00.

Our hosts, Lily Kraft and Gemma Huber, met us at the entrance, collected the fees, and started us all off with nametags and an introduction to our tour guide.  She led us through their spectacular display of parrots as well as a stunning banyan tree.  The park experience substantial damage from Hurricane Ian, yet dealt with these challenges and is almost completely restored.

After the parrots we walked through lush vegetation, alternately surrounded by ponds and preserves full of alligators, peacocks, turtles and flamigos. Our tour lasted a little over an hour by which time we were ready for lunch!

A short drive away, Lily had reseved an outdoor table at the Seaside Bar and Grill, also in Bonita.  All dining was ala carte, so everyone got their own favorite, with a $10 lunch menu being a big hit. Overall, a fun time with friends!!
