An initial Stormy Setback Turned Into a Sunny Celebration
August 3rd was supposed to be our big 1st of August celebration, but Tropical Storm Debbie had other plans. Just as we were getting ready that morning to set it all up, the authorities issued wind and flood warnings across our area. With a heavy heart, we had to inform our members that the event was canceled.
Determined to keep the annual Bratwurst tradition alive, we quickly organized an impromptu BBQ lunch on August 24th at The Landings Yacht, Golf & Tennis Club in Fort Myers. Under the bright tropical sun, 47 of our members gathered to enjoy a delightful afternoon. We kicked things off with a crisp white wine apéro, followed by the star of the show—perfectly grilled Bratwurst – and last but not least the popular homemade desserts. The air was filled with the sounds of Swiss music and laughter. In the end, what started as a washout earlier in the month turned into a sunny celebration.
