On a crisp but sunny Sunday morning, 56 members and guests of our club flocked to The Gateway Club in Fort Myers for our annual New Year’s Brunch. Decked out in their finest (and possibly loosest) outfits to accommodate the buffet, everyone exchanged Happy New Year’s wishes, mingling and catching up.

Once seated, our president, Joe, kicked things off with a warm welcome and a round of guest introductions, including a shoutout to our guests, Philipp and Conny from Heritage Swiss Bakery. These bakers braved the drive from Tampa, bearing the ultimate Swiss offering: Swiss bread roll samples for everyone to take home. Their bakery details are on the “Resources” page of swissamericanclub.com, so if you didn’t grab a sample or want to order you favorite Swiss bread, there’s still hope for your taste buds.

Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for: the lavish buffet. Plates were piled with all sorts of specialties, from fluffy egg dishes cooked to order to countless other temptations.

After a couple of hours of indulgence, toasting and laughter, it was time to waddle out the door and say goodbye until we meet again for our February Fondue event. Let’s be honest—after two hours of feasting, no one was even thinking about dinner.
