A tropical Swiss National Holiday Celebration at the Commons Beach Club in Bonita Springs, Florida

Over 60 attendees gathered on Sunday, 31. July 2022 under a blue sky with tropical temperatures in Bonita Springs to celebrate the 731st Birthday of Switzerland.

The traditional Bratwurst dinner with bread and Tomi Senf was anticipated by many and the famous oversized Bratwursts did not disappoint.  Thanks to Roman Owczarczak to be the grill master again this year with the help of Gino Colombo. The outstanding location was made possible by Werner Christinger, who also sponsored the Chasselas white wine Apero.

Our president Joe Huber welcomed and addressed the members with a few words. As a first this year he handed out the “Wanderpokal” of this year’s bowling night to the winner Gino Colombo.  Hans Wenger then read the into English translated speech of Bundesrat Cassis followed by the national anthem of Switzerland. After the formal part the party kept going with singing, talking, and story telling.

The dessert buffet was soon opened and well received. Almost nothing was left. Thanks to all who did bring something. Also a special thanks to Lily Kraft for the organization of this event and Gemma Huber who managed the member’s Bratwurst orders. Over 300 were shipped from Colorado to Fort Myers this year.

It is a day to remember. We are happy about the growing club memberships and look forward to many more fun events in the coming month.
