Bratwurst, Büerli, Thomy and Co. – A traditional Swiss National Day in Fort Myers

On Sunday, July 30, 2023, 66 members and guests gathered in the Lakes Park in Fort Myers to celebrate 732 years of Switzerland. Despite the heat and humidity this year many of our members came out to celebrate Switzerland’s national day. Luckily we were able to set up a few fans to cool us down just a little bit.

Our club president Joe Huber addressed the attendees and welcomed the guests and new members. He gave a quick overview of future club events, the bowling event with the Wanderpokal and a special mention got our 25th Anniversary celebration on December 8th.

The Swiss anthem was played, followed by the speech of Bundesrat Alain Berset in English specifically, addressing the Swiss community living abroad.

After the formal part, our grill masters Roman, Hans and Joe went to work. It was lunch time and everyone was getting hungry. Luckily the grill was hot and soon everyone got served our traditional Bratwurst, Bürli and Thomy Senf.

A dessert buffet was set up. Thanks to all who brought their home baked goods. The dessert buffet is always a highlight.

It was a fun afternoon and we look forward to see everyone again soon at one of the future events. We thank the many helpers who make this and other events possible. Happy 1st of August to all of you.
